Retirement is the most inevitable part of life but it should not be thought of as an end of life. We all need to take a break from our jobs when we reach the age of fifty eight or sixty according to the norms made by the society. Life surely doesn't end with retirement; in fact it's the beginning of a new chapter in life. Like the way we plan our career, family, holidays, etc. similarly we need to plan retirement. Retirement planning includes income from pension, social security, retirement investments, etc. But with rise of life expectancy, sometimes one needs to take up part time jobs after retirement to meet their future economic needs and also keep themselves occupied and active as long as their mind and body permits. So in order to have a comfortable old age one can take up part time retirement jobs post retirement.

Part Time Administrative Jobs

There are various part time job options for retirement. One such job is of a part time administrator. These jobs do not require a lot of physical labor just need to work from a desk, and coordinate their work with the help of a phone and computer. They have to perform the following activities:


  • They are responsible for fixing meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements
  • They need to make spreadsheets, reports, and also take care of correspondence, faxes, and email
  • Proper filing of document and papers also comes under their jurisdiction
  • They take all the incoming calls and also respond to client/customer's query or complaint
  • They also have the job of maintaining inventory of the office supplies and stationery
  • They are responsible for placing order of the office supplies or any wear and tear or service of machinery
  • They perform general and office administrative tasks
  • They need to keep all the information confidential, to maintain integrity towards their job and employer
  • Is also responsible for providing administrative support to the CEO, Managers and Assistant Managers
  • They need to maintain a record of vendors/clients and coordinate with them
  • They are expected to analyze the internal process of working and recommend changes to improve work
Requirements for the Post
  • The applicant needs to be a graduate of high school
  • An experience of two to three years in the field of office administration is an advantage
  • Should be comfortable with working on MS Office and MS Excel
  • Should have excellent communication skills, oral as well as written
  • Should be able to manage time well
  • Efficient typing skills would be an advantage
  • Time management and tactfulness is essential for this job profile
  • Should have the ability to multitask and perform task meticulously
A part time administrator can easily make $12-$15 per hour and annually they can earn around $30,000. These figures can surely go up to $50,000 depending on the job, country, city, company and the individuals experience and skills.
